Building Without Burnout

I used to wear exhaustion like a badge of honor.

If I was tired, it meant I was productive.
If I was busy, it meant I was important.
If I was booked and overwhelmed, it meant I was…winning?

But behind the hustle was a heart quietly falling apart.

I was building something that looked good on the outside—but it was costing me peace, presence, and purpose. I was saying yes to everyone except the One who called me to this in the first place.

And somewhere in the noise of “more,” I lost sight of what mattered most.

The Hard Truth: Not All Growth Is Godly

There’s a kind of growth the world applauds—fast, flashy, profitable.
But there’s a kind of growth the Kingdom celebrates—faithful, fruitful, and sustainable.

Jesus never sprinted.
He walked at the pace of peace.
He didn’t chase followers—He invited them.
He didn’t market miracles—He ministered with margin.

And that truth wrecked me (in the best way).

Because if I was building a business that drained my soul… it wasn’t worth building.

What I Changed to Protect My Soul

Here are 3 shifts I made when I chose Kingdom over culture:

1. I stopped chasing algorithms and started honoring rhythms.
I stopped showing up everywhere and started showing up well—where I felt called, not pressured.

2. I made space for margin.
I no longer book every hour or take every opportunity. If rest isn’t built into it, it’s not sustainable—or sacred.

3. I redefined success.
Now, success looks like obedience. Peace. Presence.
If I’ve honored God with my time, my words, and my work—I’ve already won.

Jesus, I surrender my need to hustle and prove myself.
Teach me how to build with You, not just for You.
Help me resist the world’s pressure to go faster, louder, and bigger.
I want to walk in step with Your Spirit—not burn out chasing applause.
Make my business a reflection of Your peace and purpose.
